At Parish Church Junior School we strongly believe that children should have equal access to all areas of the curriculum. Everything that happens in school is considered to be part of ‘the curriculum’ and we believe that whether it is learning to share, respecting others or learning to read and write, these things are important to the whole child.

Children are taught to do their best in a stimulating and friendly environment. Staff encourage each pupil to produce work of high quality and to co-operate well with others. There is an emphasis on good discipline and teachers adopt a firm but fair approach.

Each month we focus on one value and how we can all improve the way we live out that value both individually and collectively. We hope that these values will encourage the children to live a safe and happy life inside and outside of school. The value of the month is a focus of our daily act of collective worship. Our last and highly successful Ofsted inspection (May 2010) commented on the outstanding provision for collective worship.

Everyone at Parish Church has agreed to work hard to develop their skills and to support each other. We at Parish Church recognise hard work and good behaviour, and praise it accordingly. We ensure that criticism is constructive and we have high expectations of behaviour and achievement. Staff are professional, supportive and friendly, which leads to children receiving every oppotunity to help them to learn and to be happy at school.

We offer a broad, balanced curriculum and encourage children to attend our lunchtime and after school clubs. The school is building on its tradition of excellence in the Arts. No child leaves the school without the ability to play a musical instrument. Pupils regularly participate in borough events and festivals. The school enjoys close links with Croydon Minster Church and the Vicar and Curate regularly lead collective worship.

If your child is transferring from Parish Church Nursery and Infant School, or if you are moving from elsewhere, we will do all we can to make the settling in process as easy as possible. Whatever your route to Parish Church Junior School, we expect to work in partnership with all parents to provide the best possible education for your child. We hope to have your support in all areas of school life.

I am delighted to show prospective parents around the school.

Yours sincerely
